Plein Air in the Parks is a collaborative event presented by Wyoming State Parks, the Wyoming Arts Council, and Sagebrush Artisans.

Artists can look forward to a weekend of outdoor, on location plein air painting with a concluding art show, sale, and reception on Sunday that offers cash prizes to top participants. Artists also have the option of selling pieces produced during the events.

The competition will be judged anonymously by a panel composed of those with an arts background, representatives from the community, and individuals familiar with Hot Springs State Park.

  • Best in Show - $1,000
  • 2nd Place - $500
  • 3rd Place - $250
  • People's Choice Award (Voted on by the public at the sale/show) - $250

Registration includes up to two entries in the judged competition. Mediums may include but are not limited to oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and/or graphite.

LODGING: There is no overnight camping at Hot Springs so you will need to make other lodging/camping accommodations. A list of local lodging options in the area can be found here.

Through grants, partnerships, programs and unique opportunities, the Wyoming Arts Council provides funding and support statewide for projects big and small. The WAC plays an important role in the economic and social development of every community by investing in the arts. It awards almost 150 grants and fellowships each year, funding programs and projects from every county, thereby serving more than a million participants, including 1.1m adults, 200k youth, 10k artists, and 1.3m people total. For every $1 of Arts Council funding, local communities provided another $35 worth of arts programming in FY16, with an estimated project value of $32,167,251.
